I rescently built a small series of these Custom Shop H90 for the guys at Wild Customs.
They are based on Wild's own specifications with a generous overwound, an open top cover, varnished vulcanized fiber top and either nickel silver or gold hardware. These H90 are 100% pure rock'n'roll!
The original pickups on the customer's JB style chinese guitar were designed of the cheapest way possible: cheap AWG43 nylon coated coil wires, very tight machine wounded coils, no rod magnets but steel slugs, ceramic bar magnets, small gauge PVC output lead wires... everything that kills dynamic and clarity was there!
The pickups have been completely hand rebuilt to vintage specs using real Alnico 5 rods and correct wires, only the original metric plastic bobins remain.
And the most important for us, the customer seems to be really happy by its ToD pickups!
"They are nicely balanced from high all the way down to the low B string. It sounds every bit as good or better than my Lakland 4-string with Lindy Fralins.
Thanks a bunch, again, for rebuilding my pickups. I have some fret work to do on the bass and it will be the best in my arsenal! "
