NEW - TB5/TN5, The origin of the electric guitar

This set is ToD's interpretation of a piece of the guitar History:
  • TB5 is a recreation of the bridge pickup installed on the tellies early 50'. It is wound to vintage specification with a generous amount of AWG42 wire. Its alnico 5 magnets are magnetized accurately to provide a pure blues/rock sound with power, dynamics and clarity.
  • The TN5 is the neck pickup that complete the historical set. It is also based on vintage specifications from the 50' with smaller gauge coil wire and alnico 5 magnets. It has that sprakling sound with a very unique silky feeling. So beautifull!
In standard, we reverse build the neck pickup to cancel the hum when both pickups are combined.

TB6, The country bridge pickup

( Photo of a Custom Shop. On stock models the D and G magnets are the tallest )
This TB6 pickup was inspired by the bridge pickups found on the tellies during the early 60'. There are clearly less turns in its coil, combined with staggered Alnico V magnets and a copperplated base. It provides a powerful response in the mids and highs that kicks the twang and presence one step above. TB6 is perfectly adapted for the country licks but still does a pretty good job on the clean, blues and rock.

The ToD note: Our standard TB6 uses Alnico V magnets as the original creations. If you go for an Alnico II version, it will have silky highs that makes a great blues tone.

TN6, Tele neck from the 60'

The TN6 is the neck pickup which makes the perfect historical matching combination with the TB6. It has a nickel cover and small wire gauge that provide a good response in the medium highs. In standard, it is reversed built (humcancelling when combined to the bridge pickup). With its low output, it is perfect for the clean or soft overdrives.

The ToD note: This is the Tellie neck pickup I prefer and probably my favorite single coil in general. The versatility of this pickup is just amazing. Goes well for blues, country, clean or dirty arpeggios, funk and even some modern soloing thanks to its presence in the high mids... If you don't have a tele but would like to get that sound, look at our TeleStrat model in the Modern Serie single coils page...

G90, Pure blues in a bar

(The picture shows a dogear version without cover)
Our G90 is a recreation of vintage P90 based on the historical specifications from the end 50’. These pickups provide what makes the P90s the favorite of blues and rock guitarists: output, growls, and dynamic. Wound in standard at 10,000 turns, dogear or soapbar. Neck pickup can be reversed built (humcancel in middle position) on demand.

The ToD note: To turn this pickup into a vintage growling machine, we have swamped one of the two Alnico V magnets by an Alnico II one. This combination of degaussed long magnets gives you the perfect mix between the clarity of the Alnico V and the silky touch of the Alnico II.

S60, The sound of the "Texas blues"

In the 60’, the “F” brand made some changes in its process and pick-ups became slightly hotter. It was the golden age for bluesy and fuzzy tones. This single coil is designed for the closest match with legendary single coils from the 60’. If you are the happy owner of one of these voodoo children and if your pickup corroded with the years, this is your replacement. Same tone, same material, same vibe!

The ToD note: Like spicy food, we like it hot! Also, our standard S60 features just a bit more turns than an exact period correct replica. This will give you that extra bite and round the sound like Stevie's. Our standard S60 set has the middle pickup reversed built to humcancel in the position 2 and 4.

S50, The King of Clean sound

Early 50’, the single coils were made with just enough turns to make their sound legendary.
If you are looking for a soft attack, Gilmour bell like tone with plenty of warm singing highs and mids, our S50 is the pickup that you need. With its moderate output, the S50 is perfect for subtle overdrives and will gently drive your vintage amps and pedals...

The ToD note: In order to improve the “vintage” feeling and soften the highs, Alnico II magnets are used in standard instead of the historically correct Alnico V. The three pickups are wound identically on our S50 set in order to match the correct 50' design (not humcancelling in the position 2 and 4).
